BINI on their journey: 'We always strive for excellence'

Metro Manila, July 16 ------ Pinoy pop girl group BINI has been in the local music scene for quite some time. The group was formed through ABS-CBN's Star Hunt Academy in 2018, with its name taken from "binibini" or young lady.

Dubbed as the "nation's girl group," BINI debuted in 2021. Its members are Aiah Arceta, Colet Vergara, Gweneth Apuli, Jhoanna Robles, Maloi Ricalde, Mikha Lim, Sheena Catacutan, and Stacey Sevilleja. In an interview, the girls shared what it's like working with each other as they pursue their dream to become the next world-class idols. "In BINI, for us, we always strive for excellence. We always want to make sure that what we give out there is the best and we will not settle for less," said Lim, the main rapper and lead dancer of the group. "Hindi naman po kami nagmamadali para makuha namin 'yung talagang goal namin kasi darating naman talaga ‘yung time na sa atin ang spotlight," said Robles, who leads the vocals. "Trust the process lang po talaga."

Having spent rigorous training since their pre-debut and living together since the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the group's relationship has changed and has even strengthened over time. "We came from different parts of the Philippines. May taga-Cebu, Bohol, Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela, everywhere. Lumaki kami with different beliefs, perspectives in life," said Ricalde, the main vocalist. "Noong nagkita-kita kami at first hindi kami naging okay kasi iba-iba kami ng kinalakihan, so we really had to adjust sa isa't isa." "Ngayong magkasama kami for three years na and counting, mas nabi-build na po ‘yung chemistry namin sa isa't-isa and masaya pong naa-achieve namin ang mga magagandang bagay in life," she added. "Magkakasama kami through ups and downs." BINI is known for its single 'Da Coconut Nut' which was released in 2020. They also released their EP titled "Born to Win." The group has recently released its new single "Lagi," with its music video shot at the Dessert Museum in Pasay City. "It's a bright and feel-good song when you listen to it," said Aceta, main rapper of the group.
