January 13 ------ The Filipino imports in the 2024-25 season of the Japan B.League had a forgettable gameday. Dwight Ramos, Ray Parks Jr., Matthew Wright, AJ Edu, Roosevelt Adams, Geo Chiu, and each of their respective squads all absorbed defeats less than a week before the league’s All-Star Weekend.
Ramos finished with 10 points and three rebounds in only 15:43 minutes of action on Saturday at the Hokkai Kita-Yale, but Levanga Hokkaido fell to Kyoto Hannaryz, 92-76. This latest loss was the 19th one of Levanga in 29 games, and it pushed them down to fifth-place in the Eastern Division. His former Gilas Pilipinas teammate Parks Jr. also had a decent outing, but his numbers went for naught as Osaka Evessa was tripped by the Gunma Crane Thunders, 76-67, at the Ookini Arena Maishima.
The National University standout scattered 11 markers, three steals, two boards, and an assist, but these weren’t enough as they now sit in third place in the Western Division with a 15-14 record. Wright, for his part, was all across the board with five points, four assists, two rebounds, a steal, and a block, but the Kawasaki Brave Thunders’ woes continued, this time against the Fighting Eagles Nagoya. Kawasaki fell against Nagoya, 94-80, at the Nagoyashi Inae Sports Center, and this setback was their 22nd loss in 29 outings. They are now No.8 in the Central Division.
Another Gilas member in Edu had a decent performance on Saturday, but they fell to the Hiroshima Dragonflies, 82-70, at the Hiroshima Sun Plaza Hall. The 6-foot-10 stalwart scored eight, grabbed seven rebounds, and had an assist and a block, but they fell to sixth place in the Western Division with a 13-17 record. Adams, meanwhile, was quiet for the Yamagata Wyverns in their 87-77 loss against the Toyama Grouses at the Yamagata Prefectural Sports Park. He had five markers and two rebounds in the defeat that sent them to their 19th one in 31 outings. Lastly, Chiu went blank in the Ehime Orange Vikings’ 97-75 loss versus the Aomori Wat’s. He appeared for 5:52 minutes in their 30th defeat in 31 games so far.
