B.League: Ray Parks, Kai Sotto suffer respective setbacks

MANILA, Philippines, October 23 ------ Ray Parks’ efforts were not enough as his Osaka Evessa succumbed to the Mikawa Seahorses in the 2024-25 season of the Japanese B.League. Parks recorded 15 points, two assists and a rebound in 26 minutes of action in the 95-81 loss as Osaka dropped to a 4-2 card.

Former NBA journeyman Jake Layman was just too much for Evessa as he scored 23 for Mikawa. Kai Sotto, meanwhile, faced the same fate as his Koshigaya Alphas bowed to the Shimane Susanoo Magic, 92-75, at Wing Hat Kasukabe. The Gilas big man tallied 12 points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal but to no avail as Koshigaya crashed to 1-5 for the season.

James Michael McAdoo registered 17 points and seven rebounds to power the Susanoo Magic to the victory. Other Filipino imports weren’t as fortunate as well. Roosevelt Adams’ Yamagata Wyverns lost to the Toyama Grouses, 88-64, at Yamagata Prefectural Sports Park. Adams was limited to only eight minutes to end up with three points as Yamagata dropped to a 2-4 record.

Thomas Kennedy dominated for the Grouses in the win with 28 points and four rebounds. AJ Edu’s Nagasaki Velca fell victim to the Gunma Crane Thunders, 82-72, at Openhouse Arena OTA. Edu, a former member of Toyama, finished with six points and five rebounds in just 17 minutes of action that saw Velca drop to a 4-2 slate.
