B.League: Matthew Wright a key cog in Kawasaki’s win vs. Shibuya

April 22 ------ Matthew Wright was a key cog in the Kawasaki Brave Thunders’ latest win in the 2024-25 season of the Japan B.League. The former Phoenix guard only had eight points, four rebounds, a steal, and an assist, but these were of enough help as Kawasaki defeated Sunrockers Shibuya, 82-68, at the Aoyama Gakuin Memorial Hall. It was Kawasaki’s 17th win in 54 games, but they remained at No.8 in the Central Division. 

On the other hand, Dwight Ramos, Ray Parks Jr., and AJ Edu were all on the losing end in their respective assignments. Ramos finished with 12 points, five rebounds, and an assist in Levanga Hokkaido’s 88-81 loss to the Chiba Jets at the Hokkai Kita-yale, their 35th in 54 games. Due to this, Levanga fell to No.5 in the Eastern Division. Parks Jr. and Osaka Evessa, for their part, faltered against the Hiroshima Dragonflies at the Hiroshima Sun Plaza Hall. 

The National University product had a quiet performance of five points, three rebounds, and three assists in the loss that brought them to .500, 27-27. Fortunately, they are still in third place in the Western Division despite the loss. Edu also only finished in single digits scoring in Nagasaki Velca’s 90-80 loss to the Ryukyu Golden Kings at the Okinawa Suntory Arena. He had five points, five rebounds, four assists, and a rejection in the defeat that sent them down to 24-30, currently enough for sixth place in the Western Division. 

Over in the B.League’s Division 2, Roosevelt Adams’ Yamagata Wyverns defeated Geo Chiu’s Ehime Orange Vikings, 89-73, at the Ehime Prefecture Budokan. However, both Filipinos were a DNP (Did Not Play) in the game which resulted in Yamagata moving to fifth in the Eastern Division with a 23-36 record, and Ehime to 5-54, No.7 in the Western Division.
