July 25 ------ ALEX Eala reached new career-highs in both singles and doubles world rankings after her twin championships at the W100 Vitoria-Gasteiz in Spain. Eala, who won her fifth singles title and third in doubles, leaped 12 places in the singles to No. 143 in the latest edition of the WTA rankings released on Monday. She also rose a whopping 37 places in women’s doubles at world No. 208 from 245th last week.
Her new ranking is also 31 places ahead of her previous career-high on No. 239 which she achieved early in May this year. But there will be little rest for the 19-year old before swinging back into the action at the Polish Open in Warsaw, Poland. Eala is seeded fourth in the W125 tournament and will open her campaign against Isabella Shinikova for the Round of 32.
