August 14 ------ ALEX Eala is getting all the workout she needs in her bid to enter the main draw of the US Open. She made quick work of Argentinian Julia Riera, 6-3, 6-1, in the first round of the W10 Cary tournament in North Carolina to move to the round of 16. She was also in the quarterfinals of the W100 Landisville last week and her preparations for the year's last major tennis championship are moving nicely in time for the Open's qualifiers where is entered for the first time.
Eala needed less than an hour to beat her foe although the first few games of the first set initially started tight as both players battled 2-2 before the Filipino ace took the lead at 3-2 after facing a 0-30 deficit. She then took the opening set by winning three of the next four games, 6-3. The second set was a walk in the park as Eala allowed her rival to win just one game in posting a 6-1 drubbing of the Argentinian in 24 minutes.
