MANILA, PHILIPPINES, October 8 ------ 'We understand each other. We care for each other,' says the 26-year-old actress about her budding relationship with actor Aljur Abrenica. Filipina actress and vlogger AJ Raval revealed she and actor Aljur Abrenica are in the "getting to know you" phase of an "old-school courtship," laying dating rumors to rest. Raval said in an PEP Live episode on Tuesday, October 5, that she wouldn't deny rumors that "they've been talking to each other."
“Yes, totoo. Hindi ako magpapakaipokrita. 'Di na ako magsisinungaling, 'di na ako magde-deny, kasi mukha lang kaming tanga kapag nag-deny kami," she said. “Yes, siya. Naguusap kami. We understand each other. We care for each other. Pero, wala pa kami sa point na may relasyon kami,” Raval added. In a radio interview with DZRH, Raval clarified that although she and Abrenica are "dating," they have no official label to their relationship yet. Raval also said Abrenica had already asked her parents if he could court the actress. "Parang old school po. Pumupunta po siya sa father ko, nagpapaalam po siya sa mother ko, sa family ko… Puwede po akong ma-in love sa kanya. Kahit sino naman po, napakabuting tao po ni Aljur. Napaka-pure po, totoong tao,” said Raval.
Raval's confirmation comes after the pair was spotted holding hands while shopping in a mall on Wednesday, October 6. TikTok user @nicsss13 posted a video of Raval and Abrenica strolling around a toy store and walking out with their arms wrapped around each other.
In September, Raval released a video with fellow YouTuber Donnalyn Bartolome, where she admitted that she had a suitor she “felt was very special” to her. PEP Live host Jimpy Anarcon recently confirmed it was Abrenica she was talking about in the video. Raval and Abrenica co-starred in the 2021 movie Nerisa together. Abrenica officially split with his wife Kylie Padilla in July 2021, whom he wed in 2018. Abrenica and Padilla have two children together.
On Friday, October 1, Padilla confirmed in a Twitter post that "there was no issue" between her and her ex-husband and that they both agreed to date different people since separating in April.
