Syrian blogger donates blankets, necessities for Mindanao quake survivors

November 8 ------ Syrian blogger Basel Manadil, who is more known on YouTube as The Hungry Syrian Wanderer, bought several blankets and trapal (plastic water-proof sheeting) for donation to survivors of the recent earthquake in Mindanao. On channel, particularly Vlog#425, he documented his purchase of the items in Caloocan, which was a three, four hours-drive from Las Piñas where he lives. “An emergency… there was an earthquake that happened in Mindanao so I decided to help, at least in my ability. What I can do, I want to do. I want to help to the maximum of my ability,” he started. “So I’ll be buying a lot of blankets, trapal.”

He is seen checking the quality and durability of the items and even helping the seller in packing the products. “To all the victims who got affected by the earthquake, I wanna tell you that The Hungry Syrian Wanderer is with you, I feel you guys,” he said. “LINDOL KA LANG, FILIPINO KAME (flexed biceps emoji and flag for Philippines emoji) Pinakyaw ko lahat ng panindang BLANKET AT TRAPAL dito sa Caloocan kahit sobra layo ng drive ko makamura lang dahil daang daang pamilya ang nais kong abutan ng tulong sa North Cotabato Mindanao (heart emoji) pero yeyemenin style ang mga blanket dito parehas sa Mall na double presyo,” he wrote, which was published in the description box of the video.

“Happy to help the vendors here by buying all their tinda and at the same time I feel so kilig because these items will be going to the people in Mindanao with my TLC (heart eyes emoji). I was busy the past few days not posting anything about it. But action speaks louder than words and just sharing photos.” According to him, he’s still in search of rice stall as well. “Still in search for bigasahan to pakyaw. To all those who are in Manila, let’s do this guys! You may drop any donations, food, water, tents, medicines in my shop sa YOLO Las Pinas. You may check the address on our fan page: https://www.facebook.com/YOLOMilkteaPH/ Isasabay ko na iipunin ko lahat at ipapadala natin sa truck. ”

Basel continued he wants to use social media to help those in need and to send prayers. “If I can do it, you can too. Spread Kindness and Positivity (heart emoji),” the text read. “Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.”
