Maersk Supply Service to Save Fuel with Energy Advisory System Onboard

April 15 ------ Maersk Supply Service has signed a contract with Eniram, a Wärtsilä company, to install an Energy Advisory System on its vessels.  As informed, the system will use high-quality data and advise vessels on how to optimize operations and save fuel in real time.  As a result, this would lower the company’s carbon footprint and fuel costs for clients.  Proof of concept will be carried out on two of Maersk Supply Service’s vessels – one anchor handling vessels and one subsea support ship.

After initial testing, the company plans to roll out the system to four additional vessels, with the long-term goal of the installation across the entire fleet.  Maersk Supply Service said that the move is one of several initiatives undertaken by the company in an effort to reach its initial target of 5% reduction in fuel consumption by 2020.  Testing of the Energy Advisory System on the first vessel pair is expected to commence during summer 2019, the company added.
